Premium blank apparel, manufactured in Portugal. Built for brands that demand consistency.

René Bassett supplies heavyweight blank apparel to clothing brands across Europe, the US and beyond. Every product is manufactured in Portugal using ring-spun cotton fabrics developed for durability, consistent fit and compatibility with screen printing, embroidery and finishing techniques.

We work with brands at every stage: from founders placing a first sample to established labels running repeat production. The standards stay the same regardless of order size.

Building a clothing brand shouldn’t feel this complicated.

Most brands come to us after the same experiences: a supplier that delivered inconsistent quality between batches, a fabric that looked right in the sample but felt wrong at scale, or a production partner that stopped communicating once payment was made.

These aren't minor inconveniences. When your product is your brand, inconsistency costs you customers, margins and credibility. A hoodie that pills after three washes doesn't just disappoint the person wearing it, but also reflects on every decision you made as a founder.

René Bassett was built to remove these variables. Single-origin manufacturing in Portugal means the same factory, the same looms, the same finishing process on every order. There are no subcontractors involved in the production of our core blank range.

More than blanks. A manufacturing partner.

Premium fabrics

Our blanks are produced in heavyweight combed cotton, available from 300gsm to 480gsm depending on product category.Combed cotton produces a tighter, smoother yarn than carded alternatives, which means better print surface, longer wear life and a hand feel that justifies premium retail pricing. Every fabric specification was chosen with one question in mind: would a brand charging more than €100 for a hoodie be comfortable putting this inside it?

Made in Portugal

Portugal has been one of Europe's leading textile manufacturing regions for over a century. The industry is built on technical expertise, strict production standards and a workforce with generational knowledge of fabric and garment construction. Manufacturing in Portugal also means shorter lead times and lower shipping costs for European brands compared to sourcing from Asia, with none of the quality compromises typically associated with nearshoring.

Built for customisation

Our blanks are developed specifically to perform under customisation. The fabric weight and weave structure are chosen to handle repeated washing after screen printing without cracking or fading. Embroidery backing holds cleanly on our French Terry and heavyweight cotton without puckering. If you're building a brand around a customised product, the blank underneath it matters more than most founders realise.

Consistency at scale

From your first order of 10 pieces to a production run of [BLANK] units, the fabric weight, colour accuracy and construction specifications stay the same. This is what allows brands to scale without renegotiating quality expectations every time volumes increase.

Low MOQs, high standards

There are no minimum order quantities for blank products. For customised orders, the minimum is 50 pieces per colour and style, a threshold designed to make quality customisation accessible to brands that are still building their customer base, not just to those already operating at scale.

Trusted by brands worldwide.

René Bassett supplies brands in over 30 countries across Europe, the US and beyond. Our client base includes emerging labels placing first collections and established brands running.

The common thread across our clients is not size, it's a commitment to product quality that their customers can feel.

Everything under one roof

Keeping production integrated means one point of contact, one quality standard and fewer variables between your artwork file and the finished garment.

Screen printing

best for bold graphics and solid colour artwork. Available in standard and puff finish. Maximum print area 40cm wide. Minimum 50 pieces per colour and style.

Embroidery

ideal for logos, structured wordmarks and premium brand detailing. Standard and 3D puff embroidery available. Maximum embroidery area 15cm. Minimum 50 pieces per colour and style.

DTG & DTF

suited to complex, photographic or multi-colour artwork where screen printing minimums are not viable. DTG prints directly onto the garment. DTF transfers allow application to a wider range of fabrics and positions.

Garment dyeing

custom colour application to finished blanks, giving brands full control over final colour beyond the standard stock palette. Minimum 50 pieces per colour and style.

Labelling

custom neck labels produced in batches of 500. Applied at no additional handling cost on orders of 50 pieces or more per colour and style.

All techniques require sample approval before bulk production is confirmed. Sample lead time is approximately 3 to 4 weeks for printed and embroidered pieces, and 4 weeks for dyed samples.

A simple process, from sample to production.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work with small or emerging brands?

Yes — and this is by design. René Bassett was created specifically to give smaller brands access to the same quality of materials and production that larger labels use. There are no minimum order quantities for blank products, which means a brand placing its first order of 10 pieces gets the same fabric quality as one ordering 500.

We understand that emerging brands operate under constraints: limited budget, no track record with suppliers, and a lot riding on the first product. Our sample process exists precisely for this reason: test the fabric, the fit and the finish before committing to anything larger.

Can I order samples before placing a production order?

Yes, and we strongly recommend it. Samples are available for all blank products and for every customisation service — screen printing, embroidery, DTG, DTF and garment dyeing. Before any bulk order with customisation is approved, a sample must be reviewed and confirmed.

Sample lead times are typically 3 to 4 weeks for printed or embroidered pieces, and around 4 weeks for dyed samples. This timeline exists because each sample is produced to your specific artwork and specifications, not pulled from a generic stock. The sample cost is a direct reflection of the production process your bulk order will follow.

What are your minimum order quantities?

For blank products with no customisation, there is no minimum, you can order as few as one piece. For customised orders (screen printing, embroidery, DTG, DTF or dyeing), the minimum is 50 pieces per colour and style. For labelling, we produce batches of 500 labels and attach them when orders reach 50 or more pieces per colour and style.

This structure is intentional. It allows brands to build and test collections without being forced into inventory risk before they know what sells.

Do you ship internationally, and how long does it take?

We ship worldwide using UPS and TNT (FedEx Group). Blank products that are in stock are typically dispatched within 24 to 48 hours of the order being placed. For most European destinations, delivery takes between 2 and 8 business days. For the US, Canada and other international destinations, transit times vary but typically range from 3 to 6 business days depending on customs clearance.

Shipping insurance is available at checkout for orders where loss or damage protection is a priority.

Which customisation techniques do you offer, and what are the differences?

We offer five customisation techniques in-house, each suited to different use cases:

Screen printing produces sharp, durable prints with vivid colours, best for bold graphics and larger print areas up to 40cm wide. Puff printing is available for a raised, textured finish.

Embroidery is ideal for logos and structured designs, with standard and 3D puff options available for areas up to 15cm.

DTG (Direct to Garment) and DTF (Direct to Film) are best suited to complex, photographic or multi-colour artwork where screen printing minimums are not viable.

Garment dyeing allows you to specify a custom colour for the blank itself, giving full control over the final product colour beyond the standard stock palette.

All techniques require a sample before bulk production. If you're unsure which method suits your artwork best, our free consulting call is the fastest way to get a recommendation.
