About René Bassett

Most clothing brands don't fail because of a bad idea. They fail because they can't access the production quality that would make the idea work.

That's the problem René Bassett was built to solve.

We are a premium blank apparel manufacturer based in Portugal, supplying clothing brands across Europe, the US and beyond with heavyweight blanks and in-house customisation services.

No minimum order quantities on blanks. No compromises on fabric quality. The same standards on an order of 10 pieces as on an order of 50 or 500.

The founder

Ricardo Vieira grew up around textile production. His family's company operated in the Portuguese garment industry for decades, which meant he spent years learning the difference between fabric that holds and fabric that doesn't, between a supplier that communicates and one that disappears after payment, between production that scales cleanly and production that falls apart under pressure.

When he started working with clothing brands directly, he saw the same problem repeat itself with founders who had genuine vision: suppliers with impossible minimums, inconsistent quality between batches, and no real partner willing to support a brand that hadn't yet reached scale.

He founded René Bassett in 2023 with a straightforward conviction: a founder building a premium clothing brand deserves access to premium production, regardless of how many units they're ordering. The name René Bassett doesn't reference a person, it references a standard.

What We Do

Premium Blanks

Consistent, print-ready luxury blanks crafted in Portugal with precise fits and elevated materials.

Merch

Premium clothes developed around your brand’s identity — from refined fits to premium materials.

Custom Development

Fully custom pieces built from the ground up — fabrics, details and finishes shaped to express your brand’s true essence.

René Bassett manufactures and supplies premium heavyweight blank apparel — t-shirts, hoodies, crewnecks, sweatpants, long sleeves, shorts and knitwear produced in Portugal using combed cotton fabrics ranging from 300gsm to 480gsm.

Alongside our blank range, we offer in-house customisation: screen printing, embroidery, DTG, DTF, garment dyeing and labelling. All production, from the blank to the finished customised garment, takes place within the same manufacturing environment, which is what allows us to guarantee consistency across batches.

We work with brands at every stage. Founders ordering their first 10 pieces and established labels running 200 units per season use the same fabrics, the same production process and the same quality control standards.

Why Portugal

Portugal has been one of Europe's leading textile manufacturing regions for over a century. The expertise here is not a recent development, it's generational.

Factories in the region where we produce have been building knowledge of fabric construction, finishing and quality control for decades.

For clothing brands, manufacturing in Portugal means shorter shipping times and lower freight costs compared to Asia, without the quality trade-offs typically associated with nearshoring.

It also means production under European labour and environmental standards, something increasingly relevant to brands whose customers care about where and how their product is made.

Our blanks ship worldwide. For most European destinations, stocked items are dispatched within 24 to 48 hours.

What makes us different

There are other blank suppliers. The difference with René Bassett comes down to three things.

The fabric is developed, not selected.

We don't buy from a commodity catalogue and resell. Our core blank range was developed with specific weight, weave structure and finishing specifications designed for brands that customise, meaning the fabric performs under printing and embroidery in a way that generic blanks don't.

There are no minimums on blanks.

A founder testing a new colourway or a new silhouette shouldn't have to commit to 100 units to get access to premium fabric. No minimum order quantities means brands can test, iterate and build without inventory risk.

We treat the sample process seriously.

Before any bulk customised order is produced, a sample is created to your exact specifications and reviewed. This isn't a formality, it's how we catch problems before they become production runs.

Brands that trust us

Since 2023, more than 200 brands over 30 countries have used René Bassett blanks to build their collections. The brands that work with us aren't defined by size, they're defined by a shared commitment to product quality.

Let's Create Together

Whether you’re launching your brand or scaling your production, we’ll help bring your vision (and dream) to life.

Frequently asked questions

Where are your products made?

All René Bassett blanks are manufactured in Portugal, in a region with a long history of textile production. Portuguese manufacturing is known for consistent quality standards, ethical production practices and fabric expertise developed over decades. This is one of the reasons brands that care about product integrity choose to source from us.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

For blank products, there is no minimum order quantity, you can order a single piece. If you want us to apply screen printing, embroidery, DTG, DTF or dyeing to the blanks, the minimum is 50 pieces per colour and style. This structure is intentional: it lets brands test fabrics and fits before committing to a larger customised production run.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide using UPS and TNT (FedEx Group). For stocked blank items, orders are typically dispatched within 24 to 48 hours. Delivery times vary by destination, but most European orders arrive within 2 to 5 business days.

How long does it take to approve my wholesale registration?

Wholesale accounts are typically approved within 1 to 2 business days. Once approved, you have full access to wholesale pricing, the complete product catalogue and the ability to order samples before committing to a bulk production run.

Can I order samples before placing a bulk order?

Yes — and we strongly recommend it. Samples let you evaluate the fabric weight, fit, colour accuracy and print or embroidery quality before committing to a production order. All customisation services require a sample approval before bulk orders are placed.
